Strange Age

Hi hi.

Last week I was really lucky to host the Buzz on Wednesday and my regular Friday slot.

On the 23rd, I had Saskatoon's Too Soon Monsoon in who played a sold out Winterruption show over the weekend, as well as Jacqueline and Caitlin from the Chefs' Gala & Showcase.

Friday, I had award-winning composer David Braid in who hosted a screening of Born to Be Blue as well as a Q&A and concert at the Broadway Theatre. I also fangirled... er.. interviewed the vocal powerhouse Begonia. Down to earth and sweet as pie. She opened for Bob The Drag Queen on Thursday and then played Amigos on Friday.

Old Soul, Young Heart

Had a blast on Friday, Jan 18!

Played some sweet tunes, and also had local indigenous rappers Eekwol and T-Rhyme in to chat about their recent collaborative album, For Women By Women... it's freakin' amazing. I used the word anthem, as the title track really is, but the whole album is stellar.

This Heart - Lhasa Petik
Who I Am - Alicia Hansen
Souvenir - Boygenius
Old Soul, Young Heart - Said the Whale

Tune in on Jan. 25 to hear me chat with a couple wonderful musicians. Award-winning film composer David Braid will talk about screening of Born To Be Blue, the following Q & A and quartet concert featuring Saskatoon musicians. As well, vocal powerhouse Begonia, who is town for Winterruption, will be in studio as well.

Talk at you then!

take care,

Stars and Moons

This past Friday's Buzz was a blast!

I was lucky enough to have the wonderfully delightful Megan Nash in studio for an interview and live performance of the single 'Snowbank' she released the same day alongside collaborators Bears in Hazenmore! She also played a sold out show at the Bassment Friday night, which is why she was in town.

She talked about her upcoming shows and the album she hopes to have out by spring 2020, and we reminisced about the first time I saw her perform — at what is now the Black Cat Tavern. She had just wolfed down an entire baked mac & cheese and still managed to belt it out in true Megan Nash nature.

Here's a great pic of her from Friday!

Tripping Along

'Ello ello!

Welcome to 2019. Hope everyone had a safe and happy new year, whatever you were up to!

This past Friday's show, I didn't have any guests, but I played some new-ish tunes and had fun sharing 'em. I started the show off with some KBros, who performed on Friday at the Bassment. The self-proclaimed bad boys of folk have been an official band for 10 years, so celebrated that fact with an anniversary show with their tunes from the last decade.
